How to Install 'Cuda Super Slides by Cuda Powersports

In this step-by-step guide, you’ll quickly learn how to install 'Cuda's Super Slides, commonly called Bunk Slides or Bunk Slicks, on your Boat Trailer Bunk Boards.

Our Super Bunk Board Slides for boat trailers are the best on the market and are so simple to install. Let’s get into how to install the best bunk slides on your trailer—so you can get out on the water!

How to Install ‘Cuda Bunk Slides (Bunk Slicks)

‘Cuda Super Bunk Slides are fast and easy to install. You only need basic tools and a few minutes.

1. Secure Your Bunk Slides

Secure your bunk slides on top of your board with a clamp. This will make installation super easy.

2. Drill Your Countersinks

First, you’ll need a power drill and a 3/8 in width drill bit.

Put a piece of tape approximately 1/4 inch up from the bottom of the bit to mark how deep you want to drill. The bunk slides are 3/8 in thick, so you want to be careful not to drill too deep.

On one end of the slide, approximately 1-2 inches inside from the edge, drill down 1/4 inch in the center of the bunk board. Repeat on the other end. You can also drill a third hole in the center of the board if you’d like, but two holes are all that is necessary.

These indents will be the countersink to hide the top of your screws.

3. Drill Your Pilot Holes

Next, put an 1/8-inch bit in your drill.

At the center of each countersink you just made, drill all the way down into the bunk board. It is fine if you drill through the bunk board, but it is not necessary. These will be your pilot holes.

4. Secure Your Bunk Slides

Next, grab two #10 stainless steel 1.5-inch long Phillips head flat screws. Make sure to use stainless steel screws, as they are more water-resistant and will last a long time without corroding.

Install a screw in each hole that you’ve just made, ensuring the head of the screw is down below the surface of the bunk slide.

And that’s it!

The bunk slides are now secured, allowing your boat to slide easily on and off your boat trailer.

Bonus Tip: Paint Your Bunk Boards

You can paint your bunk boards to help seal the lumber and extend the longevity of your boat trailer. High-quality exterior latex paint will seal the boards against moisture and reduce wood rot.

You can use regular lumber or pressure-treated lumber. If using pressure-treated lumber, ensure the pressure-treated surface is completely dry before you apply the paint.

Paint only three sides of the lumber: the top and sides of the board. Leave the bottom unpainted to allow any moisture to escape from the wood.

You can choose whichever color you’d like! Many customers love to paint their bunk boards to match their trailers or boats.

If the boards look weathered over time, apply another coat of outdoor paint.

In the long run, painting the bunk boards and using the bunk slicks are a much more affordable solution than repeatedly buying replacement bunk carpets.
