We take pride in offering premium marine carpet that exceeds anything else on the market. Our collection of replacement boat carpets is crafted to withstand the rigors of life on the water, providing a comfortable and stylish solution for boat owners.

Why Choose Cuda Powersports Boat Carpet?

Our marine carpets come in a variety of weights—18 oz, 23 oz, and 28 oz—ensuring a plush and durable finish that lasts, whether you're outfitting a pontoon boat, a bass boat, or other watercraft. The higher weight makes our carpet more plush and durable, offering enhanced comfort and longevity over the lifetime of your boat.

How to choose the right carpet weight (quick guide)

• 18 oz: Best for lighter-duty use, quicker installs, and tighter clearances (like some hatches/compartments). Great if you trailer often and want a clean, practical upgrade.

• 23 oz: The best “all-around” choice for most pontoon and bass boats—plush enough to feel premium, durable enough for regular use.

• 28 oz: Choose this when comfort and longevity are the priority (heavy foot traffic, frequent fishing days, kids/pets, or you simply want the most cushion underfoot).

Tip: If your boat has a lot of hatches or tight-fitting lids, measure clearances before choosing the thickest option.

What truly sets our marine carpet apart is the wide range of colors. Your boat is an extension of your personal style, and our collection of colors allows you to customize your vessel to your liking.

What Sizes of Boat Carpet Are Available?

Our carpets come in widths of 6 ft and 8.5 ft, and lengths ranging from 6 to 30 feet. You can also choose between rolled or folded shipping options to save on costs—something most sellers don’t offer.

How to measure (so you don’t come up short)

1) Measure the longest length and widest point of each area you’re carpeting.
2) Add 2–3 inches to each edge you plan to wrap or tuck.
3) Add 10% extra for trimming, seams, and mistakes (15% if your layout has lots of angles).

If you’re doing bunks: measure each bunk board length and wrap allowance (top + sides + a little overlap underneath).

High-Quality Boat Carpet Padding

We also offer high-quality waterproof padding that can be installed between your boat's decking and the carpet. This padding ensures that your boat's decking is protected from moisture.

When padding is worth it (and when it’s not)

Padding is a great upgrade when:
• You’re on your feet for long stretches (fishing days, sandbar days, guiding kids)
• Your deck has minor imperfections you want to soften
• You want a more premium “quiet” feel underfoot

You may skip padding when:
• You have very tight hatch clearances
• Your priority is the fastest, simplest install

If you’re unsure, check hatch and compartment clearance first—then decide.

Our padding provides additional comfort, making it an excellent choice for those who spend long hours on their feet while fishing or enjoying their boat.

How to Install Replacement Boat Carpet

If you are wondering how to replace boat carpet on a trailer or pontoon, the process is easier than it looks.

Tools & materials checklist (recommended)

• Utility knife + extra blades
• Straight edge / square + measuring tape
• Scraper or putty knife (for old glue)
• Vacuum/shop vac + rags
• Marine-grade adhesive (and a plastic trowel/roller for spreading)
• Stainless or rust-proof staples + staple gun (for edges and bunks)
• Gloves and eye protection
• Optional: adhesive remover (test a small spot first), painter’s tape for layout lines

Follow these simple steps to install your new Cuda replacement marine carpet:

  1. Remove the old carpet (prep matters)

Pull up the old carpet and remove as many staples/fasteners as possible. Then scrape off old adhesive until the surface is smooth and solid. Vacuum thoroughly and make sure the deck/bunk boards are completely dry before installing new carpet.

If the surface is soft, rotted, or delaminating, repair/replace it first—new carpet won’t bond well to a failing surface.

Glue removal tip: Fiberglass vs. aluminum

    • Fiberglass decks: A plastic scraper plus a small amount of adhesive remover can help, but always test a hidden spot first.
    • Aluminum surfaces: Avoid harsh chemicals that can stain or react—mechanical scraping and careful prep usually work best.

  2. Measure and cut the new carpet

Roll out your replacement boat carpet and measure the area you need to cover. Use a sharp utility knife or scissors to cut the carpet to size.

  3. Apply marine-grade glue (work in sections)

Spread waterproof adhesive evenly and only as far as you can cover while it’s still tacky. Start in manageable sections, press the carpet down firmly, and work outward to avoid bubbles.

Follow the adhesive label for coverage and cure time. Rushing cure time is one of the most common reasons carpet edges lift later.

  4. Lay the carpet

Press the carpet down firmly, smoothing out wrinkles or bubbles as you go. If you are working on boat trailer bunks, wrap the carpet around the boards.

  5. Secure the edges with staples

Use stainless steel staples to hold the edges in place. This prevents peeling and keeps your marine carpet tight and secure.

  6. Let it dry

Allow the glue to set for at least 24 hours before putting the boat back on the trailer or walking on the deck.

  7. Common install mistakes to avoid

    • Installing over damp wood or a dirty surface (adhesive won’t bond properly)
    • Using too little adhesive or letting it skin over before laying carpet
    • Not adding extra material for wrapping, seams, and trimming
    • Skipping edge fastening on bunks (wrap + staple keeps carpet tight)
    • Putting the boat back in service before full cure time

  8. After-install care (first week)

    • Keep the carpet dry for the first 24–48 hours (or per adhesive instructions).
    • Avoid heavy traffic and sharp turns on trailer bunks until fully cured.
    • After your first outing, let the carpet dry fully (don’t cover it wet). Regular drying is the simplest way to prevent odor and mildew.

This easy guide makes installing replacement pontoon boat carpet or boat trailer bunk carpet a simple DIY project.

Frequently Asked Questions About Replacement Boat Carpet

How long does marine carpet last?
High-quality marine-grade boat carpet usually lasts 7 to 10 years, depending on sun exposure, water conditions, and how often you use your boat. With proper care, Cuda carpet can give you years of reliable performance.

Should I glue or staple boat carpet?
The best method is to use both. Glue provides a strong, waterproof bond, while stainless steel staples keep the edges tight. This combination helps your boat trailer carpet or pontoon boat carpet stay secure for longer.

What is the best thickness of carpet for pontoon boats?
Most pontoon owners choose 20 to 28 oz marine carpet. Thicker carpet, like 28 oz, is more comfortable and lasts longer, while 18 oz is lighter and easier to install. The right choice depends on how much use your pontoon gets and your comfort needs.

Is padding necessary under boat carpet?
Padding is not required, but it is highly recommended. Waterproof padding protects your boat deck from moisture and adds comfort underfoot. If you spend long hours fishing or standing on your boat, padding can make a big difference.

How much does it cost to replace boat carpet?
Cost depends on boat size, carpet weight, and whether you use padding. DIY is usually the most affordable route because you’re mainly paying for materials. If you hire it out, labor is often the biggest cost. The best way to estimate is to measure your deck area, add 10–15% waste, then choose the carpet weight based on how you use your boat.

How do I remove stubborn glue under old boat carpet?
Start with mechanical removal (scraper + vacuum). For stubborn adhesive, use an adhesive remover sparingly and test a small hidden spot first—especially on fiberglass and painted surfaces. The goal is a clean, smooth, dry surface so the new adhesive bonds correctly.

What are alternatives to boat carpet?
Common alternatives include marine vinyl flooring and EVA foam (often called “SeaDek-style” flooring). Vinyl is easier to hose off and can be great for heavy mess/wet use, while carpet stays cooler underfoot, provides better traction, and feels softer. If you like a classic look and comfort, marine carpet is still one of the best all-around choices.
